At Snag, we respect your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and what rights you have. By using Snag (the app and website), you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

1. Information We Collect

a) Information You Provide Directly

  • Account information: name, email address, password, phone number (optional).
  • Profile information: profile photo, bio, approximate location (city/region) if you choose to provide it.
  • Content you post: listings, photos, descriptions, comments, and messages.
  • Payment information: when you make a purchase. We never store your full credit card details.

b) Information Collected Automatically

  • Technical data: IP address, device type, browser version, operating system, advertising identifiers (IDFA/AAID), usage time.
  • Usage data: pages visited, features used, interactions with listings.
  • Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see Section 6).
  • Approximate location data (if you enable location services).

c) Information from Third Parties

If you sign in using Google, Apple, or another service, we may receive certain information from those platforms (with your consent).

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Create and manage your account.
  • Provide, maintain, and improve our services.
  • Process payments and prevent fraud.
  • Personalize your experience.
  • Analyze app usage and improve performance.
  • Communicate with you (notifications, customer support, updates).

3. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We share your information only in the following cases:

  • Service Providers: Stripe (payment processing), Supabase (database & authentication), analytics and hosting providers.
  • Legal requirements: when required by law, court order, or government authority.
  • Protection of rights: to detect, prevent, or address fraud, abuse, or security issues.
  • Business transfers: in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

4. International Data Transfers

If we transfer data outside the European Economic Area (EEA), we use appropriate legal safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.

5. Data Retention

  • Account data: for the duration your account is active + up to 3 years after deletion.
  • Posted content: while the listing is active, then archived or deleted according to your settings.
  • Analytics data: generally up to 12–24 months.
  • Payment data: we do not store it (handled by Stripe).

6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • Make the app function properly (essential cookies).
  • Analyze usage and improve your experience.
  • Personalize content and notifications.

You can manage your cookie preferences through the app settings. Some cookies are strictly necessary and cannot be refused.

7. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data (encryption, access controls, regular audits). No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. Your payment information is processed exclusively by Stripe and is never stored on our servers.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access your personal data.
  • Correct inaccurate information.
  • Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Object to the processing of your data.
  • Request portability of your data.
  • Withdraw your consent where processing is based on consent.

California residents: You also have the right to request the categories of personal information we collect and to opt out of the "sale" of your personal information. (We do not sell your data.)

9. Children

Snag is not intended for children under 13 years old (or 16 in some countries). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have collected data from a child, please contact us immediately.

10. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The new version will be posted with an updated "Last updated" date. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notification.
